Liberty Wheel Systems, LLC is a family owned company devoted to making the bicycle more efficient, safer, and fun to ride through advanced mechanical design that fuses form with function.

Founders, Leonard and Jeanette Ashman, have a successful track record, including the Memory Nut and the Pull-It®. Both are wheel securing devices for use on either road or mountain bicycles.Liberty Wheel currently has a portfolio of both patent and trademark intellectual property. The hallmark of Liberty Wheel products is the advanced mechanical designs which place a priority on light weight and superior performance, two attributes that sophisticated cycling devotees require.Moreover, these attributes are combined in an aesthetically balanced form providing a distinctive overall product. The driven hub is the next step in the product evolution for the company, demonstrating lighter weight, a more stable working axis, and the ability to remove the driven wheel of a bicycle without having to manipulate the drive train, placing it far ahead of contemporary products.

Born with a love of all things bicycle, Leonard is a consummate inventor of innovative cycling applications. Designed to make the geared bike easier to use, his Memory Nut, Pull-It, and HubDock, are three new products poised to revolutionize the technology of the rear wheel. A graphic artist by trade, for the last twenty years this imagineer has become a specialist in 3-dimensional mechanics and applied mechanical design. These skills have been key in transforming his concepts into real working parts of a bicycle. Holder of numerous patents in the art area of bicycle components, the name Ashman will soon become synonymous with what’s new in bikes.

Jeanette Ashman

Within her twenty-seven year career in Federal Service she has performed duties for the U.S. Air force, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and acted as Administrative Support in Procurement for the U.S. government. And she’s been recognized for her achievements. While representing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a Small Business Advocate, Jeanette was distinguished by the government for her superior performance by developing the first Small Business Outreach and Training Conferences for Service Disabled Veterans. But Jeanette was a savvy businesswoman long before beginning work for her country. After sixteen years in the wholesale stoneware industry, she’d already developed a strong foundation of skills, including trade show experience, both local and regional.

A patent consultant, brilliant businessman, and top engineer all rolled into one, he couldn’t be a better fit. With more degrees than a thermometer, Bruce brings a full spectrum of strong strategic and tactical management experience from not only work at corporate giants, like Apple and GE, but also start-up operations, including Votan and Conxion. From contributing engineer (Kasper, Cobilt) to Director of Engineering (Votan) to Engineering Department Manger (Apple), Bruce has climbed the ladder and acquired a broad skillset while on his way up. But Bruce’s talent and success as a patent consultant is also a significant asset to Liberty Wheel. In that role, he’s earned many victories guiding the prosecution of patents and trademarks in a broad range in the field of the arts.

Laura Hansen

In addition to award-winning careers in new product marketing and advertising copywriting, Laura holds patents for her award-winning interior decorative fixtures. Laura has hands-on experience with vendor procurement, assembly set-up, establishing distribution channels and regional sales teams. She’s developed strong managerial skills, starting with 15 years of senior leadership experience for the non-profit, Church of Divine Man, followed by four years as a director and strategic planning team member of the world’s largest Pilates equipment company, Balanced Body Pilates.

Laura brings a real-world perspective and informed insight into establishing sustainable business development and mindful business practices for Liberty Wheel Systems.

Laspina Tool and Die manufactures precision machine components for OEM manufacturers in aerospace, medical and general industries. Tim Laspina began his company in his garage in 1996 with one machine tool, growing it to a multimillion dollar facility (Ohio, USA) known for its high level of precision machining, craftsmanship, and competitive pricing. As a Board Member and valued manufacturing partner, Tim brings his years of experience and reputation to produce Liberty Wheel’s high quality cycling products at a compelling price point.

Chad has been involved in cycling since he was twelve years old, competing at the highest levels as a professional cyclist. With a California state championship to his credit, he founded Inferno Racing, LLC, a national professional racing team that consistently finished in the top rankings in the country in NRC rankings, and ranked highly in the UCI divisional domestic rankings from 2004 to 2012. In his tenure at Inferno Racing, LLC, Chad has earned his former team invites to prestigious events around the world, including the Amgen Tour of California. In his role as Vice President of Marketing, he will utilize his in-depth knowledge of the industry and long term relationships with key industry leaders, to help build a global distribution network and industry placement for Liberty Wheel Systems and our cycling products.
